Rooted Cuttings FAQ

What is a rooted cutting?
A rooted cutting is a young live plant that has already been propagated and rooted, but is still in an early stage of growth.

What will I receive?
You will receive one rooted cutting of the variety ordered unless otherwise stated on the product page.

When will rooted cuttings ship?
Rooted cuttings ship during our live plant shipping window and may be delayed for unsafe weather.

Why was my order not shipped right away?
Live plants may be held if weather conditions are too cold or otherwise unsafe for transit.

Should I add a heat pack?
In borderline cold weather, we recommend adding 1 Shipping Heat Pack per package. In most cases, each package holds 4-6 cuttings. An additional shipping charge may be necessary for larger orders. We will reach out to you if that were the case.

Heat packs are optional and do not guarantee shipment during unsafe freeze conditions.

Are quantities limited?
Yes. Rooted cutting releases may be offered in limited quantities and are available first come, first served while inventory lasts.

Will sold out varieties come back?
Sometimes. If a variety is sold out, join the waitlist to be notified about future restocks or releases. Doing this lets us know to root more of a variety, if we are able to.

Can I combine shipping for multiple orders?
When possible, we may combine multiple orders going to the same address, but this is not guaranteed. Please email if you would like to request to combine orders.

What should I do when my order arrives?
Unpack promptly and inspect your order right away. Live plants should not be left in the box for an extended period after delivery.

Lightly water the cutting if it's dry.  As soon as the plant appears to be rehydrated, transplant it to a small pot with fresh potting soil.

Place in indirect light for the first 24 hours. Do not place the plant outside in cold weather. Harden off slowly before planting outside.

Let your plant grow stronger, bigger roots before planting directly into the ground.

*Every time you transplant, it is beneficial to plant the stalk of the cutting a little more deeply. This increases the potential for tuber production
